This is a decal-sheet with the best 10 Albatros D.II,  D.III and D.Va from the book “Jasta 14”. The Kaiser-decal is not on the sheet but is included separately. There will be a review of the book coming up shortly, once I’ve finished reading it.

Wingnut, Roden and Encore produce 1/32 scale Albatross that can be used with these decals.

This decal sheet is also available in 1/48 and 1/72 with 14 and 11 options respectively.

The bag contains 1 large and 1 small decal sheet and a half A4-sized booklet of 6 pages.

The decal sheet contains individual markings for each aircraft, including the non-standard
Balkenkreuze present on some aircraft. The kit decals can be used for those aircraft with
standard markings.

The 9 options are:

  • Albatros D.11, aircraft number 0.1717 / 16. Staffelfuhrer Oberleutnant Rudolf Berthold late November 1916, Flugplatz Buhl
  • Albatros D.11 (Late Version), pilot unknown, Early 1917, Flugplatz Buhl
  • Albatros D.11 (spate Version), aircraft number 0.1782/16. Flugzeugfuhrer Vizefeldwebel Otto Gerbig Spring 1917, Flugplatz Buhl

  • Albatros D.Va, aircraft number unknown. Oberleutnant Hasso von Wedel, November 1917 Flugplatz Boncourt
  • Albatros D.Va, aircraft number unknown. Vizefeldwebel Paul Rothe, Autumn 1917

Luftfahrtverlag-Start occasionally does limited run decal sheets of aircraft, and submarines. Usually, the print run is 500 copies, and once they’re out of stock, that’s it. The decal sheet is printed by Cartograph.

The quality of the decals themselves is very good, as you would expect from Cartograph. The whites look good and the other colours are vibrant.

Conclusion
Impeccably researched, as you’d expect from Luffahrtverlag Start. The decal sheet is highly recommended and will allow you to build some unique Albatrosses.

The decals cost 19,50 Euro + shipping.
The decals are available on their website on this page.
