I wanted to take a sec to show you guys my completed Blackheart Models Mr. Spock bust. It was a lot of fun to work with. I actually first painted his face green then applied a base coat of beige red mixed with yellow ochre. This mix was darkened with more beige red for the shadows then lightened with Ivory. I went with a mix of burnt umber and black for his hair. Lightening the mix to create mild highlights and darkened with black for shadows around the edges. The tunic was painted with a mix of 60/40 mix of Sailing Sky Blue/blue lagoon (Craftsmart/Americana). Craftsmart’s Pale blue was added for the highlights and darkened with more Blue Lagoon for the shadows.

The bust is nicely detailed and has a very good likeness of what looks to me to be Spock from Season 1. He’s also pictured here with the Kirk bust from Blackheart which I completed in December. One note is that he was accidentally sculpted with the command arrowhead insignia. Not sure if they corrected this but I covered it with plastic putty then hand-painted in the science insignia. Here’s a link to the sculpt: https://blackheartmodels.com/products/all-products/micromania-leonard-nimoy-tribute-bust

I've been building models since I was age 10. I've kind of gone in and out of the hobby through the years because of schooling and career but now that I'm pretty well settled in, I've been building pretty regularly over the last 4-5 years. Although I've built some WWII ships and planes in the past, I now mainly build sci-fi ships. My favorite subjects have been Star Trek and Star Wars but also have built many from 60s-70s sci-fi TV. A couple of yrs ago I started a Youtube channel just to put in my 2 cents and give advice. Surprisingly it hit 1M in 2017 views and still growing. I enjoy scale modeling as it provides an escape from daily stresses and routines. It also has been a great way to stay in touch with my childhood memories and simpler times. I must add that I have met some really great people since becoming active online in the modeling community and I look forward to continue my contribution to the hobby.
